I'll Meet You There Book Review

I'll Meet You There
The story was great, i liked the character Skylar and Josh were good characters, the side characters were amazing. Skylar's friends Dylan and Chris, their manager Marge. From the synopsis, it is misleading because it makes you think that Skylar and Josh are meeting for the first time, when in reality they know each other from being co-workers at a motel after school. Also, Skylar had a fling with his brother over spring break. he's her ex in a way but not really because it wasn't serious. Skylar was a great protagonist, she's an artist who got a scholarship to go to a college in San Francisico, her plans fall apart when her mom loses her job. Now this is one of the best parts of the book because it show Skylar's economic situation and what's it's like to be in poverty. At one point in the book, she had only a cracker to eat for the entire day and she didn't have enough money for food sometimes. I applaud the author for doing this because most contemporaries don't mention this or it's mentioned but it's glossed over like it goes away eventually. i want to talk about Skylar's friends Dylan and Chris, loyal best friends ever. Dylan is one of Skylar's best friends who has a kid with her boyfriend of 3 years Jesse. This is a great factor to add because it shows a young women who is not ashamed for having a kid because she's proud of her baby and loves him. There's one part in the book where Skylar and Josh are talking and she mentions that Dylan has a kid, Josh's response was that he wasn't surprised since she" gets around". i agreed with Skylar because he was assuming that she got pregnant by a random guy. i was disgusted by this part because Dylan had a kid by her boyfriend who loved her and their kid a lot, not just random hookup. sorry, rant over. Now, on to Josh. Josh has been through a lot being in the Marines, Afghanistan and losing his leg in the war. His internal struggles are seen throughout the book despite how short his chapters, you get the problems he's going through about his experiences in the the war, loss, death, guns being fired. However, since he never talks about the war besides in his chapters, Skylar couldn't understand what he's going through and in this part is where i wasn't really sure why Josh didn't want to open up to Skylar because they've talked about everything else. Even Skylar was questioning on whether he trusted her enough because there were moments where he would get angry or moody at Skylar just because she wanted to help him get around because of his leg. It seems like Josh used the war as an excuse for his behavior at some parts which i wasn't ok with because there's only so much he can blame the war at. I loved how Skylar tells him this in the end when they're reunited, because she lets him know that he can't keep blaming everything on his experiences especially Skylar.  Whether or not they last, Skylar mentions briefly what being with Josh with his mood swings and his anger and depression which she chooses not to mention to her mother. Personally, i see them lasting probably her first year of college. after that i don't know because of how their personalities are. over time it could become stressful for her, but she would handle it when she would need to.

Great summer read, highly recommend it. :)

The Ruby Circle Review

The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines, #6)
The predictions that i made during my Silver shadows review came true!. i'm so happy that Sydney and Adrian and Rose and Dimirti went on a road tip together and they found Jill. Her and Eddie are together now, which i'm happy about as well, it's about time. Now, that my feels are out of the way, On to the review, compared to the other books in the series, this one was the shortest of all of them. I finished it in like 3-4 days. it was easy because it has 19 chapters and an epilogue.
The beginning of the book was slow in because it focused on Sydney and Adrian being in the Court, then it got good when Sydney's teacher came to help them find Jill. Can i just say she's an awesome character because she 's very blunt. To get out of Court Sydney has to turn herself into a cat while her teacher brought a temporary cat to replace her. I loved Adrian's reaction, "Am I still married to a cat?".
Now the Olive situation, she's a big part of the the book, i'll admit that i forgot who she was and Nina as well, because i felt that they were just there to keep the plot going. Anyway, Olive is missing and the gang is trying to look for her while Jill at the same time. On to who took Jill, i suspected it was Alicia because of when Trey said that a blond girl was looking for Adrian and Sydney in Silver Shadows. The Warriors are in this book as well as Syndey's dad and sister, Zoe. The reason Olive left was because she got pregnant by Neil and wanted to hide it because dhampires can't get pregnant by each other but for some reason she did because of the spirit inside her.  i figured Neil wouldn't want anything to do with the baby, but couldn't they have given it to the people in the village or her family, at that point, it doesn't matter whether it was by a moroi or a dhampire, that is a child's life that needs to be taken care of. i didn't agree with Neil leaving, but i get why he did it. Adrian and Sydney adopting Olive's baby was sweet, Declan is adorable. i figured that's why they had  the baby dragon Hopper in the 3rd book, he was their child :) Rose and Dimitri being engaged in the end is beautiful and Jeddie in the end finally.
the book was a great finale, it tied up everything and i would a novella about Jill and Eddie and Sydrian's lifewith Declan. Rose and Dimitri wedding in the future. :)

Silver Shadows Review

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines, #5)
Amazing! I will admit the beginning was slow but then it got better by the middle. The wedding was beautiful, I'm so proud of Sydney in this book and Adrian as well. She's the most wanted, and omg, I loved how Adrian told all the people off when they got to Court.
The ending was good, I figured it would happen because that's what happened I think in the 4th book where she got taken or something
its bittersweet to be finishing the series because I love the characters but I also want to see how they turn out. Silver Shadow was different because Sydney and Adrian are apart for the first half of the book but then they are reunited. Through help from Marcus and their friends, i loved how we finally got to see Carly Sage, Sydney's older sister. I loved her as soon as she was introduced in the book. Her character is so important because not only was she a rape victim, but now she's working on helping girls fight against rape and stand up for themselves as human beings. i am proud of her. Her character was there briefly but she made an impact to me.
so I know that Sydney and Adrian will be on a road trip with rose and Dimitri:) my two favorite ships together, I can't wait to see rose and Dimitri's reactions to Sydney using magic.
also, Jeddie needs to happen, its like vampire academy where rose and Dimitri fought their feelings and got together at the very end.

All The Bright Places Review

i loved it! The story was beautiful. The characters of Violet and Finch were real characters with flaws, doubts. insecurities, and great moments where they understood each other. The themes of mental illness and bipolar disorder was executed in a great way, i didn't feel overwhelmed by the information because it was done in a way where it's not thrown in your face. Finch was an amazing character, i loved his charismatic attitude, his heart, the way he finds joy in the simplest things. Violet was the popular girl who strayed from her status, in the beginning, it did take me a while to get used to her because she was constantly feeling guilty and not doing anything to make an effort. But, towards the end, i liked her and the reasons why she did the things that she did. i had a feeling it would end the way it did based on the summary, but still i held hope. The ending felt right and i don't feel that it could have been prevented at that point, maybe if it was towards the middle that it happened, then maybe that person could have been saved. The quotes were beautiful, Finch's speeches to Violet were my favorite because it showed that he wasn't going to treat her differently while others are cautious around her. i liked that he was the only one who told her like it is and didn't hold back.
Highly recommend it to anyone who wants somethings that deals with tough subject, if you liked Laurie Halse Anderson's book Speak, you'll love this.

The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet Book Review

The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet is a companion to the web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries which is a modern adaption of the book Pride and Prejudice. This is one of the first books that i read that comes from a webseries and it was very entertaining. i loved the characters of Lizzie, Lydia, Jane, Bing,Darcy, and Fitz. I've watched The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and it had me addicted to it. It was a great modern adaption of P&P and it made me understand the characters more in terms of their emotions and their reactions. In P&P, it's a little difficult to understand why the characters react a certain way because of the time period that it's set in. In the LBD, it is clear why the characters react the way they do because it is translated well to modern day. i relate to Lydia in being the youngest and sometimes you're not included in certain things that you wish you were or family leaving for a while.
The Secret Diary of Lizzie BennetLizzie, Darcy, Jane, and Bing were amazing, it was really great to get a deeper look into the relationships especially the things that were kept out of the videos. Now, rewatching the series, i get why the characters reacted in a certain way especially Jane when it came to her relationship with Bing. i also watched Lydia's videos and now having watched the series and read the book, i understand her more now and it's really sad to see that she was hurting and her sisters didn't notice it.
Overall, my rating for this book is 5 stars and i can't wait to read the sequel starring Lydia. :)

Stolen Book Review

This book was great, the premise was different and the two main characters were good. The character of Ty is complex because he did kidnap Gemma and drug her to take her to Australia. Do I forgive him? No, do I sympathize him? Yes.however this does not justify the fact of what he did, I liked that this book addressed this and Gemma was the one who realized this. I do still wish we got to more about Gemma's life from her than from what Ty said her life was in his eyes. It makes me wonder if Ty was telling the truth about her family or if he was lying to get Gemma to trust him. So many questions. I wanted to know what Gemma said in the trial. Overall, the ending felt right and was done in a great way.

my rating overall is 4 stars, :)

Review of The Young Elites by Marie Lu

My rating : 4 stars

 My review
Absolutely loved this book. the characters were great, the plot was good.
Main Character-Adelina was a very different female protagonist because she was an anti-hero and i loved that she had this darkness in her that she accepts it instead of denying it like most ya female characters do. Her thoughts, emotions, and motives were clear from the beginning although i don't agree with some of her choices that she made, i understand why she did it at the time.
Plot/Writing- the plot was good although i feel that the whole spy thing has been done in many books, being a mole in the group and then coming clean about it.
Supporting Characters: the supporting characters in the Dagger Society were good , i just felt that i didn't really get a sense of who they were. i liked Raffaele and Gemma the most although, there were times where i didn't really trust Raffaele because i couldn't understand what his real intentions were.
"Love" Interest- throughout the book,Enzo is a character that is the leader of the Dagger society however, he is never seen interacting with them or Adelina for that matter. There were only a few interactions between Adelina and him, then all of a sudden they make out twice. i feel that there wasn't enough build up to it, they don't really know each other that well. Plus, he constantly thinks of her as his old lover Daphne, i think they had the same skin color or came from the same land.
Antagonist-Teren is the Anatagonist in the book he had his reasons for doing what he did. his reasons were never clear though because of his secret.

Ending- the ending was great because it set up the next book well along with what may happen with Adelina's journey along with the Dagger Society.
